for thousands of miles

Pedal * Blog

So, deep breath, Amanda and I have, many times, talked about when to announce the title of the actual film, and we agreed that after all the footage had been logged we would start distinguishing the parts of the project more clearly.

I feel all butterfly’ish in my stomach – I’ve been waiting a long, long time to put the title out there, I’m anxious to hear people’s reactions… I’ve already gotten a few emails, some of them positive reactions, some of them not-so-much, I’m sure it’s going to take some time for it to settle in and really feel like it’s own aspect of the project. I feel though that it fairly represents the mood of the film (or at least what I hope and want the film to represent).

Also a huge, huge, huge thanks to Patrick Moberg, who was so great about letting us use his artwork on the ‘For Thousands of Miles‘ website, he even did the designing of the site itself!

Wow I'm right here in California with you and didn't know you had updated your site. Plus I've been waiting for your big announcement since you mentioned it a couple of blogs ago.

The title fits...it says more, more than just a trip on a bike. Perfect!
  • If I had known that I'd have told you :D oops. That's funny - well, I'm glad you like... like I just mentioned... cause you're standing infront of me dusting the tv :P

    Hey Mike,

It's been a while since I have looked on the site but it looks great - glad to see the documentary is finally coming together. I got your letter and I have one of the buttons on my backpack. I'll be in Burlington VT for a while as I have just been accepted to Grad School here. Drop me a line if you're in the area farmers.ride<at>gmail.com

The artwork looks like what I saw as I was approaching glacier national park as I rode down rt 2 threw the flatness of western Montana.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Chris! :) I'm glad you came by the site, it's good to hear from you. I hope we get a chance to talk to you again for the film, but we have lots of work to do before then ;)

Thanks for putting the button on your bag - good luck at grad school!
  • yay! chris, it is always so good to hear from you. glad you got the button, thanks for wearing it and representing Pedal. good luck w/ grad school. hopefully we'll be talking to / seeing you again soon. :)

also, i love what you said about the artwork... it's exactly what we thought when we first saw it.

I like the title! Took me off guard for a moment as I always referred to it as 'Pedal,' but I think it's more inviting as a documentary of a journey, not just some type of a sporting event or how-to segment, as 'Project Pedal' may suggest to viewers who don't know the background. I also really like the graphic-- I take a deep breath every time I see it. I am getting more and more excited to see the final cut!
  • Hey Drea :) Thanks! I know it's quite a shift from just saying "Pedal", but I'm really glad you said that. That's what we were going for ;)

I think that's what I did the first time I saw Patrick's drawing :) took a deep breath, and then crossed my fingers that he'd let us use it. Thanks for the support!

  • Thanks Richard! :)

Man i love the new look of the starter webpage or whatever you call it :) that's really great. Oh, and i like the title, it fits the concept of the film very well.
  • Hey Nick :) Thanks - Amanda has been hassling me to keep it simple like it is now :P but I've been getting the urge to mess with it... I guess people are liking it, maybe I shouldn't. And thanks - and I'm glad you like the title. Love you!
  • Well, I gotta say I like it. It sounds like a journey both mentally and physically, and as someone else said, it describes quite nicely your own personal journeys.

    How exciting!
  • Hey Paul :) I'm really glad you got that from the title - thanks!
  • thanks!!! i was hoping you would say that ;)
  • I really like the name of the film and love the new site. As a web designer I'm very inspired at the quality of design displayed on this site. I'm super excited for the release of the film!!
