Pedal on DIY

posted Sep 30, 2007     1 comment(s)

A few weeks ago 'Pedal' was mentioned on DIY Life in a post about Film School Rigs & Mounts, the story ended up on Digg and helped drive a lot of traffic back to this blog. Thanks Dan.

If you're interested in checking out the article, you can read it here. I copy & pasted the paragraph that mentioned 'Pedal' below:
Bicycle-mounted steadycam - If you'd feel more secure mounting your digital camcorder to something that doesn't go quite as fast as a car, then maybe this bicycle-mounted steadycam will be right up your alley. The footage is still a bit too bouncy for my liking, but I could see it coming in handy if the viewer knew they were watching video filmed from a moving bike (i.e. a documentary about a bike ride across the US). The design of this steadycam is also simple enough that it could easily be ported to other, less-bouncy vehicles... like a Segway... or... that's all I got.

What have I been up to lately... ie: where the hell have I been?

I've been neglecting the site lately, I'm sorry for that. Along with many other things in my life; I feel like I'm still adjusting. I know it's been a while since I've been back from the road, but I'd be lying if I said I felt back to "normal".

I think one of the reasons I've been in-hiding the last few weeks is my job, with the fall season coming up for all the television shows, my 9 to 6 job has quickly become my 9 to 10:30 job. Which has actually been fun many nights, I can't complain, last week I got to spend the day running around back-stage with the Village People... I still have "YMCA" stuck in my head.

Finding time for myself has been overwhelming after a 13 hour day. But with all my debts I have to still pay off, I'm grateful for the overtime.

Also, although Amanda and I have been separated since February, we spent most of our time together leading up to the trip, and then 100% of our time together during the trip... in a van. So even just adjusting to not only being back, but also alone, is strange. Things that Amanda used to help take care of, are things I have to do all myself now. Not that this is a shock to me, but it's still one of the many things I'm trying to find time for.

I've been writing episodes 6 through 8, I'm anxious to get back into releasing one a month again. On a side note: the FemGeek suggested I do a weekly vlog to update people on the progress, or lack thereof, of the project. I like this idea a lot, I won't promise a "weekly" vlog just yet, but I will say; that when I'm able to at least import the footage, I'll be very excited about vlogging on a regular basis.

I've been making some small site changes though, maybe some of you have noticed, I've added a "suggest music for the film" page, not sure if the Last.fm widget is the best tool for this, but for now it works. I'm also writing a new synopsis, and donation-outline (more focused on post-production).

I have a handful of other topics I've scribbled down on my notepad that I wanted to talk about - but I think I should save for a later post. Till then, goodnight.
